So, I'm to be interviewed by a newspaper tomorrow morning, in anticipation of the release of (the movie) Eclipse. We are going to be talking what it is to be a man, and a dad, reading or experiencing Twilight.
Hm, that is an interesting question, as there are fewer men that read Twilight than women, and probably only a few of those men actually read Twilight not just to entertain or to tolerate this 'foolish fancy' of their S.O.'s.
So I'm sure the interview will focus on the whys of maleness/fatherness and Twilightness. But, and I don't know if you know this about me, but I tend to look for and to look at universals, and being a man or a woman makes a huge difference in many things, but aren't we all looking for many of the same things, looking in our different ways, but still looking for these common things that connect us all.
So, man or woman, adult or child, we read Twilight for some very clear things that it gives us.
What are those things? Tell me. I'm going into the interviewing 'representing,' as it were, and representing a target group: Twilight Dad(s). But I'm also going to be representing me, obviously, but I'm also going to be representing you. So tell me so that I can represent: what is the draw of Twilight for you?

Aw crud. I see I'm a month too late. Well, I don't think i would've been very helpful anyway, because my answer to what the draw of Twilight is is: Edward. He's way hot. Well, he's technically cold but...oh you know what I mean! But seriously, that is 94.3% of the draw for me.
But I do have another male friend active in the universe and here are some of the things I can remember him telling me he liked about Twilight:
How real Bella seemed to him.
The originality of Stephenie Meyer in her take on vampires.
Bella and Edward's all consuming love.
I don't know that he's come out and said this, but it seems to me that he also finds the characters and their back stories fascinating.
Anyhow, sorry to be late to the party, but congrats on the interview! I'm sure you represented Twilight dads very well and I'm glad the reporter had the wisdom to seek you out. Is it up on-line anywhere where I can see it?

congratulations on your award I stopped over from Brenda drake's site and just in case u ever get intervied in addition to the other comments. Bella and Edward are the modern day answer to classic love stories, IMHO they go right up there with Romeo and Juliet or Tristan and Isolde
For me, it's just how real everything is. It's fantasy, but it feels real. I can see the pieces play out, and, at least in the first 3 books (I'm iffy on BD), it feels real to me.
Well, and Jasper is just adorable... :)
